Amel Brahim-Djelloul and Séraphine Cotrez

in Poissy for Amadigi

On November 20, we will have the opportunity to hear Amel Brahim-Djelloul and Séraphine Cotrez in the production of Amadigi created last season at the Théâtre de Sénart with Les Paladins, under the direction of Jérôme Corréas, then touring at the Center des Bords de Marne, the Théâtre l'Athénée in Paris, Maison Alfort, Saint-Quentin, Massy and Compiègne before returning this season to Poissy.

Press reviews were very positive like Resmusica which described the two singers in these terms :

"Amel Brahim-Djelloul, very at ease scenically in Oriana, lets discover magnificent high notes and the freshness of an incarnation that is a refinement of tenderness."

"As for the impressive contralto of the very young Séraphine Cotrez, we can speak of a revelation."

Resmusica.com - 29/01/2019 - Jean-Luc Clairet

We can also mention Forum Opera, here are two excerpts:

"Amel Brahim-Djelloul is a beautiful Oriane, very touching in her acting and a Mozartian elegance in her singing: another artist we would like to hear more often."

"A great discovery finally with Séraphine Cotrez, endowed with one of these tones of voice whose rarity is all the price, and who seems perfectly prepared for a beautiful career"

Forumopéra.com - 13/01/2019 - Laurent Bury

After this performance in Poissy, Amel Brahim-Djelloul will be in concert with pianist Anne le Bozec for two recitals. The first one will take place at the Théâtre du Capitole in Toulouse with a Poulenc program. For the second, lets cross the Mediterranean Sea since it will be in Algiers in December during the week of masterclasses that they will dispense to the French Institute of Algiers.

Regularly invited by many orchestras (Orchestre national de France, National Symphony Orchestra of Washington, Orchestre Philharmonique Royal de Liège, National Philharmonic Orchestra of Ukraine, Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg, Orchestre des concerts Pasdeloup, Orchestre Symphonique National Algérien, Orchestre national d'Ile-de-France, Orchestre Philharmonique du Maroc...) and ensembles (Les Arts Florissants, Le Poème Harmonique, Les Paladins, Il Caravaggio, 2E2M, Mezwej, Les Talens Lyriques, Le Quatuor Debussy...), Amel Brahim-Djelloul broadens each season her range of personal projects which often link East and West, such as the programs "L'Orgue du Sultan" (with Achéron and Sultan Veld), "Les 1001 Lunes de la Princesse Boudour" (with Aymeric Lecerf and Nicolas Jouve), the "Populaires" recital (with Nicolas Jouve), "Canciones" (with C Barré) as well as her Mediterranean programs with the Amedyez Ensemble.

With a full and expressive mezzo-soprano voice, she first trained in Paris with baritone Yann Toussaint, then in the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse de Lyon in Françoise Pollet's class. She already performed in recitals, oratorio, and various lyrical productions, like in 2018, singing the roles of Clorinde and Venus in Monteverdi's Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda and Il ballo delle ingrate at the Reims Opera with with Les Paladins, under the baton of Jérôme Correas or in 2019, still with Les Paladins,  the role of Dardano in Handel's Amadigi. In April 2019, during the Sergei Rachmaninoff Weekend at the Philharmonie de Paris, she was invited to sing to sing All-Night Vigil, under the baton of Grete Pedersen, with the Choir of the Orchestre de Paris. Among her commitments for this 2019-2020 season, lets mention Mozart's Große Messe with the Orchestre de Cannes Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur (direction Nicolas Krüger), Beethoven's Mass in C major with the Orchestre de Massy (direction Constantin Rouits).
