This month we have the pleasure to welcome baritone Levent Bakirci among our artists; we discovered him on the occasion of his memorable embodiment of the title role of Luigi Dallapiccola's Il Prigioniero, at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, during the 2015/2106 season.
Here is what Emmanuel Dupuy (Diapason) said: "On stage, absolute triumph for the Prisoner of Levent Bakirci, whose seductive baritone sends a flood of legato, never falling into the trap of speech sung."
After being a solo member of the Bremen Opera, he is currently member of the Staatstheater Nürnberg, where he makes this 2016/2017 season his debuts in the roles of Taddeo (Rossini's L'Italiana in Algeri), Donner (Wagner's Das Rheingold) and Andrey Shchelkalov (Mussorgski's Boris Godunov).
Among the roles he sang during the 2015/2016 season, were Zurga (Bizet's Les Pêcheurs de Perles), the title role of Don Giovanni by Mozart, Marcello (Puccini's La Bohème), Il Conte Almaviva (Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro), Escamillo (Bizet's Carmen), or Dr. Falke (Strauss's Die Fledermaus).
His forthcoming engagements include the title role of Don Giovanni for his debut at the Teatro Municipal de Santiago, and Marcello and Papageno (Mozart's Die Zauberflöte) at the Staatstheater Nürnberg.
