Miroirs Brûlants

at Besançon

Baritone  Marc Mauillon will give on Tuesday 31 January, accompanied by the pianist Guillaume Coppola and the actor Didier Sandre, the recital Miroirs Brûlants at the Théâtre Ledoux in Besançon.

Between Five Poems, by Paul Éluard, in 1935, and Une chanson de porcelaine, in 1958, Francis Poulenc will have written thirty-four melodies on the texts of the poet of the blue orange. With their concert-reading Miroirs Brûlants, the three artists pay as much homage to this common work as to a beautiful complicity.

"There is no question of accompaniment, it is more than ever a duo where the materials, vocal and pianistic, are closely mixed.". When Francis Poulenc talked about his work with Paul Éluard, he could not better summarize Miroirs brûlants. Indeed, the complicity, uniting the voices of  Marc Mauillon and Didier Sandre on the piano of Guillaume Coppola, is absolute. In these mirrors, the vibration of the words is reflected in sensual harmonies. Or is it the opposite?

This program was recorded for Eloquentia in 2013 (ffff de télérama and 5 diapasons).

"The Mauillon-Coppola tandem draws its strength and its success in artistic parity between the partners, their commitment is direct, powerful, muscular, without narcissism". (Télérama).

After this recital, Marc Mauillon will go to Varsovie for two concerts at the Philharmonie:  Lambert's Leçons de Ténèbres  on February 7 and  the recital "A nos morts ignorés" with the pianist Anne Le Bozec on February 9.

During the season 2016/2017, baritone  Marc Mauillon is particularly present on french operatic stages. He notably makes his debut in the title role of Monteverdi's L'Orfeo at the Opéra de Dijon, sings the role of Pelée in Marais's Alcyone at the Opéra-comique de Paris and the Opéra royal de Versailles, the role of Mercure (Offenbach's Orphée aux enfers) at Angers-Nantes Opéra, as well as the role of Momo (Rossi's L'Orfeo) at the Opéra national de Bordeaux and the Théâtre de Caen.

He yet does not neglect the more intimate repertoire and sings again this season with Jordi Savall and Hespèrion XXI, Vincent Dumestre and Le Poème Harmonique, the ensemble Pygmalion, La Rêveuse, or with pianists Anne le Bozec and Coppola, his sister harpist Angélique Mauillon, or even in his solo recital, called « Songline ».
