We are pleased to announce that the young bass-baritone Niall Anderson joins the RSB Artists this week!
Recognised for his firm and flexible bass-baritone voice, Niall Anderson is a member of the Académie at the Opéra National de Paris.
His roles include Aeneas (Dido and Aeneas), Escamillo (La Tragédie de Carmen), Somnus (Semele), Bertrand (Iolanta), Harašta (The Cunning Little Vixen), Sprecher (Die Zauberflöte) and Le Philosophe (Chérubin).
Niall has performed globally most notably singing the role of Christus in Bach's St Johannes Passion in Würselen, Germany. A keen performer of new music, Niall has premiered works by Thomas Lavoy and sang the Baritone Solo in the Welsh premier of Paul Mealor’s Symphony No.1, Passiontide. Recent and future engagements include a recital of Beethoven's Irish and Scottish Songs, Mozart's Requiem, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solenelle, Mendelssohn's Elijah and his Paris debut singing Collatinus in The Rape of Lucretia. Niall has performed in venues such as Salisbury Cathedral, Wells Cathedral and the Wigmore Hall. As a recitalist, Niall has given performances of namely Vaughan Williams’ Songs of Travel, Butterworth’s A Shropshire Lad and Schumann’s Dichterliebe.
At the Royal Academy of Music, Niall studied with Glenville Hargreaves and Jonathan Papp. He was a soloist in the RAM/Kohn Bach Cantata Series and performed with the Song Circle on numerous occasions. In 2019 Niall was a finalist in the Richard Lewis/Jean Shanks competition and was the winner of the Pavarotti Prize in the same year.
