A charismatic young bass with a rich and powerful voice, Mathieu Gourlet performs during the 2026–2027 season the roles of Mephistopheles (Faust) at the Festival Classica de Montréal, Jupiter (Platée) at the Opéra de Rennes, the Sacristain (Tosca) at the Opéra de Massy, Apollon/Adamus (Les Boréades) on tour with the Irish Baroque Orchestra, Carnaval (Le Carnaval de Venise) with Il Caravaggio, and Masetto (Don Giovanni) at the Festival Radio France Montpellier Occitanie.

Among the roles he has recently performed are Sarastro (Une Petite flûte enchantée) at the Opéra de Lausanne, Sarastro again and Conte di Ceprano (Rigoletto) at the Opéra de Toulon, Angelotti (Tosca) at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, Le Commandeur and Masetto (Don Giovanni) on French tour with ARCAL, the Sacristain (Tosca) at the Théâtre impérial de Compiègne and on French tour, Osmin (L’Enlèvement au Sérail) at the operas of Clermont Auvergne and Reims, and Frère Jean (Roméo et Juliette) at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

In concert, he has been heard as Pilate (La Passion selon Saint-Jean) on tour with Ensemble Il Caravaggio, in Mozart’s Grande Messe en Ut mineur with Le Concert de la Loge, and in various programs with the ensembles Il Buranello, La Palatine, Septentrion, and New Baroque Times.

Mathieu Gourlet positions himself as a multidisciplinary artist; in theatre, he made his debut on Parisian stages with Compagnie AH, performing Obéron in Le Songe d’une nuit d’été. Close to the circus arts, he is co-founder of the acrobatic company Offthegrips, currently in residence in the Hauts-de-France region.

His vocal journey has led him to work with renowned professionals such as Gabriel Bacquier, Ludovic Tézier, Patrizia Ciofi, Fabrice di Falco, Thomas Jolly, Àlex Ollé, Christian Schiaretti, Marie-Ève Signeyrole, Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, Alain Altinoglu, Eivind Gullberg Jensen, and Jean-Claude Malgoire.

A member of the 2023–2024 cohort of Génération Opéra, Mathieu Gourlet has been represented by RSBA since 2024.
