After completing a degree in Modern Literature and studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Lyon, Timothée Varon joined the Académie de l’Opéra national de Paris, where he notably performed the roles of Eisenstein (Die Fledermaus), L’Horloge and Le Chat (L’Enfant et les Sortilèges), Énée (Didon et Enée), and Tarquinius (Le Viol de Lucrèce).

He has also sung Schaunard (La Bohème) at the Opéra de Bordeaux, the title role in Don Giovanni at the Théâtre de l’Athénée, the Opéra de Massy and on tour with ARCAL, Papageno (La Flûte Enchantée) at the Opera på Skäret Festival in Sweden and in Avignon, Guglielmo (Così fan tutte) at the Opéra de Dijon and the Festival Castel Artès, Masetto (Don Giovanni) at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Alessio (La Sonnambula) at the Opéra de Nice, Argante (Rinaldo) at the Opéra d’Avignon, La Haine (Armide) at the Teatro Real de Madrid and the Philharmonie de Paris, Le Geôlier/L’Officier (Dialogues des Carmélites) in Bordeaux and Massy, Baron Douphol (La Traviata) at the Opéra de Rouen, and Comte Capulet in a youth adaptation of Roméo et Juliette at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées.

In concert, he has appeared at the Opéra de Rennes in Beethoven’s Scottish Songs and Brahms’ Ein deutsches Requiem, in a programme of French mélodies at the Opéra de Lyon, in Orff’s Carmina Burana and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 with the Orchestre National des Pays de la Loire, in Carmina Burana again with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse, and in Mozart’s Requiem in Versailles. With the Opéra National de Paris, he took part in Gustavo Dudamel’s inaugural concert at the Palais Garnier.

Timothée Varon was named “Révélation Classique” by ADAMI in 2018, received the Prix de l’AROP and the Prix du Cercle Carpeaux, both associated with the Opéra de Paris, in 2020, was a member of the Génération Opéra 2023 cohort, and was a resident artist of the Académie du Festival d’Aix-en-Provence in 2024.

Highlights of his 2026–2027 season include Le Chasseur and Le Garde-forestier (Rusalka) at the Théâtre du Capitole de Toulouse, Omar (Le Cadi Dupé) at the Opéra de Tours and the Opéra Royal de Versailles, Publio (La Clemenza di Tito) at the Opéra de Limoges, Ping (Turandot) at the Opéra de Saint-Étienne, the title role in Don Giovanni at the Festival Radio France Montpellier Occitanie and on tour, and Mozart’s Requiem at the Grand Théâtre de Provence with the Orchestre Idomeneo.
