Let's Breathe and listen !

The arrival of summer heralds each year the time for open-air concerts and it is with redoubled pleasure that we will once again find a number of our artists this year, at the various festivals; a small, non-exhaustive inventory:

The Chorégies d'Orange is one of the first events to launch the summer season and we will find the bass Frédéric Caton there, alongside Roberto Alagna and Marie-Nicole Lemieux.

A Ciel Ouvert is the name of a festival initiated by the Poème Harmonique and Vincent Dumestre, which will be held for the first time from 6 to 11 July; among the guest singers are two of our young artists: mezzo Brenda Poupard, who will again sing the role of Iris in Coronis by Sebastián Durón, and countertenor Fernando Escalona, who will offer us arias from Italian operas performed at the court of the young Louis XIV. A few days after the festival, bass Renaud Delaigue will join the Poème Harmonique to sing a programme of French Leçons de Ténèbres at the Festival Radio-France Montpellier Occitanie.

Un Violon sur le sable is one of the great musical events of the summer, bringing together thousands of spectators on the beach of Royan every evening; but this year again it will not take place, due to sanitary restrictions, leaving all the room for its traditional "off festival", Un Violon sur la ville; the soprano Amel Brahim-Djelloul will sing there with the Orchestre de chambre du Violon sur le Sable, during a concert directed and presented by Jérôme Pillement, around the history of classical music.

As mentioned in our last newsletter, baritone Florian Sempey and conductor Roberto Rizzi Brignoli, after having shared a gala concert at the Opéra de Marseille last June, will meet again for three performances of Carmen at the Nuits lyriques de Sanxay.

At the end of the summer, the annual Berlioz Festival in La Côte Sant-André will give us the opportunity to hear tenor François Rougier and baritone Thomas Dolié in the second part of Les Troyens (Les Troyens à Carthage), alongside the Jeune Orchestre Européen Hector Berlioz - Isère conducted by François-Xavier Roth; Thomas Dolié will have previously taken part, among other things, in the Nuits de Fourvière in Lyon, singing Beethoven's 9th Symphony under the starry sky of the great Gallo-Roman amphitheatre.

This summer, we will hear the young mezzos Brenda Poupard and Séraphine Cotrez, respectively in the roles of L'enfant et de l'Ecureuil, the Pâtre and the Chatte in Maurice Ravel's L'Enfant et les sortilèges at the Auditorium de Bordeaux, conducted by Paul Daniel; the violinist and conductor Stéphanie-Marie Degand will lead the Jeune Orchestre de l'Abbaye at the Abbaye aux Dames de Saintes in a Rossini/Viotti/Cherubini program; soprano Sara Gouzy will sing Beethoven's 9th Symphony under the direction of Jordi Savall at the Beethovenfest festival in Bonn in Germany.

Not forgetting the various concerts offered by the ensemble Il Caravaggio conducted by Camille Delaforge with her partner, mezzo Anna Reinhold, whose agenda can be consulted, as well as all the concerts of our artists, by clicking ... here!

Have a great and inspiring summer!
